Sofindev III welcomes a new institutional investor
The Belgian private equity fund Sofindev III SA is pleased to announce the arrival of a new institutional shareholder into its capital. This operation will bring Sofindev III total committed capital to 75 MEUR, hereby reinforcing its presence in the SME buyout segment.
The new investor is a Luxemburg based investment group aiming to expand its activities into the private equity asset class. The group is assisted by Philippe Lambrecht – CFO Niko Group, previously member of the management board of Cobepa and head M&A of the Fortis Group – and Marcel Genadry, who led – till 2009 – Euroports Belgium in the ports of Antwerp and Ghent. The new investor will join Sofindev’s long term investors Sofina, the Belgian listed financial holding company, Colruyt, the listed Belgian food retailer and Imocobel, the De Clercq family investment vehicle.
This additional commitment will allow Sofindev III to confirm its position on the investment front in the Belgian buyout market. The fund is typically looking for significant minority or majority investments into SME’s with a demonstrated growth potential and a strong management. Equity commitments are between 4 and 13 MEUR.
Sofindev III investments so far consist of:
– Bockstael (Intellectual property rights)
– Abelag (Business aviation)
– Cassis Paprika (women’s fashion retail)
– Novy (white goods manufacturing)
Sofindev III is managed by the investment team of Sofindev Management SA.
